We're off!

The Norse gods have granted us exceptional favor by rolling back the dark, wet skies of Iceland in favor of sun. What a gift!

We will leave Glacier Interntional Airport tomorrow night for Seattle, where we'll board an Icelandic Air direct to Keflavik, arriving in the early afternoon.

If luck stays with us, we'll be greeted by an eruption just north of Grindavik but south of the airport, which is west of Reykjavic, which is where we're staying. The downside might be closure of the Blue Lagoon - a lake warmed by a volcano and on our way from the airport to Reykjavik. After that, it's anything goes, as we climb into our rented car and tour the island.

Copenhagen is next on our itinerary, and here's hoping that the weather also parts the clouds on our behalf. High points on this leg of our journey will be bicycles/urban design and Sorensen family ties.

What do I want from this trip? I want my daughter and grandsons to want to do more. I want them to love traveling and love learning from traveling. There is so much out there.
